Prohibited Discharge Standards are somewhat general, national standards
applicable to all industrial users to a POTW, regardless of whether
or not the POTW has an approved pretreatment program or the industrial
user has been issued a permit. These standards are designed to protect
against pass through and interference, protect the POTW collection
system, and to promote worker safety and beneficial biosolids use.
